...the end of bad habits that is!
For as long as I can remember, I've been bigger than everyone else. When I look back on photo's of me as a child (the few I have), I don't consider myself to be fat. But at the time, I thought I was huge. Maybe it's just that I am older and bigger (fatter) now so I appreciate what I had back then more? Or maybe I just suffered from the same ridiculous body image issues as every other teenage girl. Either way, the insecurities of body image haunt me to this day.
Given that I am currently around 173cm and weigh 101Kg, I KNOW I am am fat. I can accept that...without accepting it. I've known I'm big for a long time. Kind of hard to ignore. When I starting dating my (now) husband in 2001, I weighed 80Kg. The most I've weighed is 116Kg (2011). That's a whopping 36Kg gain in 10 years! OUCH! Completely unhealthy!
So, knowing I was fat and unhealthy, I began a journey to change my life. I actually began it in March 2009. Started with a personal trainer a few times a week. And then I hurt my back. Initially I lost 8Kg... and then put it all back on plus an extra kilo. Then 8 weeks ago, I changed my life for good. I started an eating plan limiting my calories to 1500 per day. I soon discovered that it was still too much food for me (I had lost 6Kg in 3 weeks but I couldn't physically eat the food!) and dropped it down to 1200 calories. Over the last 8 weeks, I have lost 9Kg! Better than that, I've lost 5cm from my stomach and around 1.5 cm from my arms and chest (not too keen on the chest decreasing but guess I'll just have to suck it up!).
SO, this blog is a way to track my progress. Watch me reach my goals! My aim is to get down to 80Kg...maybe even 75 - but def 80! I have no time frame just yet - just that it needs to happen. I also want to have another baby (I have a 4 year old) so this is just as much about getting fit for another pregnancy as it is about changing my life around!
SO, here we go... My first mini goal is to be under 100Kg. I have my next weigh in with my trainer (Dale) on the 7th August. I am determined to be under 100 on that date! Yesterday I weighed 101.08Kg... lets get moving!
